Getting ready for fall! I made this quilt last year for a fall class I was teaching. I hung it up in my studio and thought I would like to post it here as well. The pattern is Karen Combs' Autumn Star.
I have been sewing since I was a teenager, making my own clothes, clothes for my children and others. When I started quilting over twelve years ago I found a new excitement for sewing. I have always loved color and interesting designs and quilting opened up a new world of creativity for me. As a child, I loved the beautiful patchwork quilts that my grandmother and women of her generation created from scraps of dress material. When I looked at my grandmother’s quilts, I could remember most of the fabrics from dresses I had seen worn by various members of the family as well as myself. Living in a farming community during the depression, every scrap was used for something.
